If 12 or more demerit points are recorded against you within any 3 year period, you will be disqualified from driving. The period of disqualification will vary depending on the total number of demerit points accumulated: 12 - 15 demerit points = 3 months disqualification 16 - 19 demerit points = 4 months disqualification 20 or more demerit points = .5 months disqualification The 3 year period is calculated from the date that an offence is committed, not from the date of conviction. The relevant period in your case may be determined by adding 3 years to the date of the earliest offence recorded on this notice. To determine the type of offence for which you have received demerit points, refer to Offence Particulars on this page, and then locate those offences in the enclosed brochure Demerit Points for Offences. Please turnover for more details and important information. For many people the loss of a driver's licence through disqualification can have far reaching social and financial implications.
